Mark’s started popping the tiles off of the galley and nav station counters. This actually ends up being a weeks long project, but the results are worth it. Almost every surface in the boat is covered in ugly tiles. They’re on the nav station, the counters and most of the head. There’s probably a thousand of these things….and they come off one by one. The head is part of a bigger project that we’ve started calling ”Mexico Problems”. At some point we’ll deal with it, but it’s not going to be anytime soon. So we started taking tiles off in the galley instead.
We thought we were going to need to buy all new counters and that taking the tiles off was just going to be the first step. Luckily, they were in really good shape so we decided we’re just going to keep them as-is. We’ve got enough to deal with and new counters aren’t something we’re looking at right now.
